Williams Grove Speedway Feature Finishes – April 13, 2007

MECHANICSBURG, PA – Kevin Nouse used a dramatic fourth corner pass on the last lap Friday night to score his first sprint car victory at Williams Grove Speedway.

Nouse started sixth in the 25-lap event, moved into second place on the first tour, then took the lead from Scott Geesey the next time around. Once in front Nouse began to pull away as Lucas Wolfe, who started 10th, and Doug Esh, who started 18th, were moving through the field.

Wolfe took the runnerup spot on lap nine and began to reel-in the leader. With three laps left Wolfe made his move between turns 3 and 4. He shot to the inside and drove by Nouse.

Meanwhile, Esh had charged from the ninth row to third place and was closing on the leaders. Nouse refused to concede defeat, however, and chased the leader into traffic on the last lap. With Wolfe slowed by lapped cars, Nouse ducked to the inside exiting turn four and won the drag race to the finish line for his first career sprint car victory at Williams Grove. Wolfe settled for second with Esh third.

Lance Dewease charged from 16th to finish fourth and take the lead in the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point standings. Jeff Shepard completed the top five with Fred Rahmer, Todd Shaffer, Bian Montieth, Mark Smith and Geesey finishing in positions six through ten respectively.

Heats for the 36 sprint cars were won by Shepard, Steve Clabaugh, Lafferty and Nouse. Cody Darrah and Esh won the consolation races.

Shepard set a new 10-lap record of 2:45.28, eclipsing Niki Young’s 2-year old standard of 2:46.38.
