Cody was bad fast and won his heat race AND the special CASH DASH for the top qualifiers. The win in the dash put him on the pole, much to the dismay of the competition. Cody quickly served notice that he was going to win this race. As Cody began threading his way through lap traffic, a rock wedged into the throttle linkage and stuck it open. Cody forced the #89 to spin out to avoid hitting a lapped car. The rock departed after Cody went through the spin cycle and went to the rear of the field. With only a few laps remaining, Cody still notched a Top 15 at the drop of the checkers.

MECHANICSBURG, PA – Josh Wells led flag-to-flag to win the 25-lap sprint car feature Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, but it wasn’t exactly an easy victory.

Alan Krimes crossed the line 0.06 seconds behind Wells, which is just about as close as it can get.

Wells, who missed several races because of an injury suffered at Williams Grove in mid-August, made a triumphant return Friday. He started on the pole and took the lead at the start after beating Krimes into the first corner. With Wells glued to the outside cushion. Krimes was committed to the inside. Cody Darrah passed Krimes on the first lap, then Brian Leppo dropped him to fourth on lap five.

Krimes wasn’t able to get the runnerup spot back until the 23rd lap, but that allowed him just enough time to catch the leader.

Wells and Krimes exited the final turn side-by-side and Wells held on for his second career victory at Williams Grove.

He became the 17th different driver to win a sprint car feature at the Grove this season and earned $3000 for his effort.

Krimes settled for second, which was a career best for him at Williams Grove.

Leppo was third with Fred Rahmer, who started 17th, finishing fourth. Greg Hodnett completed the top five.

Darrah, Jim Siegel, Mike Erdley, Mark Smith and T. J. Stutts rounded out the top ten. Rahmer took over the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point lead when Lance Dewease was involved in a 6th lap crash and was credited with a 20th-place finish.

Heats for the 32 sprint cars went to Mark Coldren, Chad Layton and Craig Keel. Smith won the consolation race.
